At Beaconsfield GC we pride ourselves on the condition of the greens. As we strived for 12-month playability we required a drainage system that could manage the ever-changing climate. We wanted a product that could cope with the wettest of days but on the other hand not affect moisture levels during the hotter months. A method which wouldn’t over dry surfaces, up irrigation requirements and increase the demand on precious man hours. 6 years on and 18 greens completed, HYDROWICK drainage was 100% the best decision we made.

Installing the HYDROWICK drainage system into to all our greens has transformed their performance. Greens we couldn’t cut are now the first greens we cut after heavy rainfall. We had two greens drained last March and the difference is amazing.
They were the wettest greens on the course with floating turf, puddling after as little as 4mm of rain, bare areas where they would sit wet. We could not even get a hand cut on them during the winter and they would spend most of the time as on temps. Now they're cut all year round, not temps, the sward has increased. No more floating turf and no more puddling! In my opinion, HYDROWICK is a must for wet, clay, push up greens.

The HYDROWICK system works so well because drainage principles dictate the closer spacing of the drainage elements leads to greater drainage rates. The HYDROWICK system can readily be installed at required close spacing due to the fact that is is installed without trenching. it provides a rapid, economical solution with minimal surface disruption
The inner open core of the HYDROWICK element provides a flow capacity at a closer spacing and for reasonable run lengths. The ability of the HYDROWICK element to maintain a hanging water column provides additional capillary drainage and removes water that would not be accessible with a conventional drainage system.
